About Us
Our company was originally incorporated as Neptune Studios Private Limited in June 1946. Subsequently in November 1956 the company's name was changed to Sathya Studios Private Limited.
The company's primary business was letting out its movie production facilities to producers of motion pictures. The company is situated in the heart of the city of chennai in the banks of the Adyar River.
The property once belonged to the Nawab of the Arcot and was named as "Amir Bhag" and was the entrance to the city of Madras. It was also the site where the Battle of Adyar river was fought in October 1746 which led to the formation of the Madras Regiment of the British Indian Army (now the Indian Army) . The promoters of Neptune Studios acquired the property in the early 1940's and established the movie production studio.
The premises served as a shooting spot for nearly half a century and also witnessed many historical events that shaped the political history of Tamil Nadu (formerly known as Madras State) .
In the year 1996, the management of the private company decided to establish a women's college in the premises. The college is known as "Dr.MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women".
